My fiancée was watching the London Marathon on a Sunday morning a few years back and decided she would enter the ballot for the chance to compete the following year. "Why don't you enter too so we can do it together?" she said. A few months later and we received our emails to let us know whether we'd been successful. Sadly Hayley didn't get in. But I did! So here we are, months of training, sore ankles calves and knees, endless miles and peeling myself off the sofa to get out on the roads and paths.
It's all for a good cause though.
Tragically in 2019 we lost our nephew Ethan and it massively opened our eyes to just how difficult life can be and how much our mental health can affect us.
1 in 4 of us will develop mental health problems that largely go untreated due to stigma attached to the issue, as well as problems finding help due to an already pressured NHS mental health services. The last few years have been difficult for most and many have turned to mental health charities for help. Those charities need us more than ever, so I ask you to donate what you can in aid of Unmasked Mental Health, and I will run the 26.2 miles of the London Marathon in return.
Thank you
