The Breathing Space health and wellbeing project, based at St Michael and All Angels Church at Witton Gilbert near Durham, urgently needs wi-fi connection. Its project officer Gillie Boggon wants everyone who uses the church to be able to connect to the internet. Gillie works part-time and wants to maximise her availability to all who visit the church. She herself cannot use email or connect to websites at present and these are vital aspects of her role. Quotes received for installing a landline are in excess of £1500 and therefore all donations of any size would be greatly welcomed! Breathing Space works in partnership with local organisations to facilitate holistic health and wellbeing in local communities especially for the marginalised. We have struggled for over a year to achieve wi-fi connection. The 800 year old church did not have a post-code nor a letterbox and was therefore virtually invisible so far as the landline providers were concerned. We have overcome both of those hurdles but risk being falling at the last because of the high cost of installation. We believe that we are definitely moving in the right direction (as recommended recently by Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber who would like to see every church connected to the internet for the public good). However, every week that goes by without connection is an opportunity missed for maximising the work of Breathing Space. Breathing Space is a registered charity, number 1148676, and can be viewed on the Charities Commission website.
