Hello Family & Friends,
It's my birthday coming up & typically, I would have disappeared, uncontactable somewhere in the Himalayas for a month. This year, I was supposed to reunite with my Mom & Sherpa bros on Oct 2 in Kathmandu for our Mom & Daughter adventure to climb a newly opened 6000m peak then Ama Dablam (6812m) for a month long expedition. It would have been Climbing for Charity as it's our family values to always give back to the people, especially children & education in remote inaccessible areas. Sadly, like everyone else, my plans are on hold till COVID is over but that doesn't stop me from making an impact this year when people need it most.
Children of Snowland resonates strongly with me as I've seen & experienced how hard mountain life is & that's what truly changed me & my perspectives in life. I've also seen the benefits from such NGO through a friend, a village boy who went on to graduate with a PhD scholarship in UK.
With COVID cases on the rise in Nepal (new single day high of +4,634 cases on Oct 8 reported by The Himalayan Times), it is unlikely that there'll be any trekking & mountaineering this year. This is the main source of income for farmers & villagers to work as guides, porters or kitchen staff during climbing season every year. This means...
1) These children are at risk to leave school to help their families in their villages & farms.
2) Funds to operate the school & dormitories are at risk due to low contributions from the travel crisis.
So, if you are thinking of buying me anything for my birthday, I would rather ask you to please kindly contribute here for the greater good. I'd like to share it with those who are in real hardship & make their education a priority.
With my deepest gratitude, THANK YOU in advance for your kindness, support & generosity. We're the few very blessed lucky people in the world who can afford to enjoy & have fun safely with health & wealth in the midst of global crisis.
Namaste & Love Lots,
Xjilien
