Summer Bike Ride in Aid of Sunshine and Smiles

For our first event we will be hosting a road bike ride on Thursday 22nd August, using the fantastic setting of Ilkley and the help of local experts and all-around great guys, The Commute Cafe for drinks and a guide.

The ride will be between 32 and 35 miles depending on the group.

Group 1 will be an average speed of 16-18 mph taking in 3 well-known climbs: Langbar, Norwood Edge and the Cow and Calf.

Norwood features in the Women's Elite Road race world championship course in September and the Cow and Calf was the finishing line on stage 2 of the 2018 Tour de Yorkshire.

Group 2 will be aiming for around 13mph+ average and will be doing a similar route without the Cow and Calf at the end.

It is a testing route with up to 1120m of ascending depending on the group.

Meet at The Commute Cafe around 8:00 am to give time for a drink and introductions.
Group 1 will go at 9:00 am
Group 2 go at 8:40 am

To take part and secure your place it's a £5 donation, all of this goes to Sunshine and Smiles. For this, you will receive a drink on arrival at The Commute Cafe and a post-ride drink with nibbles.

The Legal Bit.
Riders who are minors (under 16) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising and ensuring the safety of, minors in their party as well as looking out for their own health and safety and that of other riders throughout the ride. 
Riders, therefore, take part at their own risk and are strongly encouraged to ensure they wear suitable personal protection equipment, that their machines are properly serviced and in good condition, and to arrange their own personal insurance arrangements. In particular, riders must make their own assessment of the suitability of the proposed route in light of the ability and fitness level of every person in their party.
