Team Fundraisers

We provide drop in activities for young people aged 8 to 18 three evenings each week as well as activities during school holidays. We work with local young people to support their personal, social and educational development and enable them to gain a voice, influence and confidence as they grow into young adults.

Why they need our service

The young people we work with live in one of the most sparsely populated areas in the country and are particularly isolated. There are limited opportunities for social interaction outside of school as many of the young people live on remote farms and there is no public transport. This makes it difficult to access sports or social facilities as well as training or employment opportunities. UTASS currently provides minibus transport for children to come to the drop in on a Thursday night.

Plan and expected results

By providing sports, arts and crafts, cookery and a wide range of other activities we aim for the young people to gain new skills, understanding and confidence. Some of the drop in sessions focus on discussing particular issues such as drugs or alcohol awareness, bullying or health issues, which help the young people gain a better understanding and awareness of these topics.
