We exist to re-engage young people with learning through vocational training in agriculture and rural skills, re-integrate adults and older people back into their community when they become isolated, and strengthen families and communities by promoting learning between the generations.
Why the community needs us
Rural communities need rural solutions to the challenges that they face. One solution is care farming, or the therapeutic use of farming practices. Care farming is a partnership between farmers, care providers and those in the community who they support. This partnership has the potential to offer a solution to some of the UK's health and social care needs while also helping to diversify farms and ensure their future viability.
Our impact on the community
Spending time in the countryside and becoming involved in farm life and work helps people become more resilient: they become able to respond in a positive, creative way to the challenges that they face. Greater resilience leads to greater responsibility, which helps young people get back into school and progress to employment.
