We are seeking to use the line as an active focus for tourism and local development, and we are already collaborating with a number of local groups and businesses to this end. In addition, we are now managing the permissive Community Route that runs parallel with the track for most of the valley length - a valley full of ecological diversity, but which is also in need of protection, encouragement and management.

By acting as such a focus, we hope to draw visitors up the valley to explore and enjoy the industrial heritage, modern mountain-biking routes and the valley's natural beauty, which will - we hope - develop the valley's economy as well.

We see walkers and cyclists on the Community Route year-round, and are steadily building interest in both aspects of the work from within the valley. This is slowly resulting in a growing membership from which our volunteers are drawn.
