The Centre caters for a variety of sporting activities requested by the general public and it is used as a focal point for all of the sporting clubs withing the District. The communities who use the Centre are mostly based in semi-rural areas where there is a huge demand for this type of facility. The Centre is non-profit making, allowing charges to be kept as low as possible so that lower income families and those individuals who have to be more frugal, are not excluded from the Centre.
Why the community needs usHLC is the only facility of its kind in the immediate area. It caters for the sporting needs of the general public living within Henfield and the surrounding villages. Being a self funding charitable organisation, it relies upon fundraising and bequests to complement its generated income. The main building is utilised for social events, exhibitions, and would be commandeered by the emergency services should a natural disaster occur. HLC is a community facility in the true sense of the word.
Our impact on the communityThe Henfield Leisure Centre takes pride in the contribution it makes to the broader rural community. The results of the hard work put in by the Centre's many volunteers are there for all to see. The positive impact it has upon children's groups with respect to education, sport, and play, has been praised by OFSTED, and is used as an example to be copied. Facilities for its older members are also first class, leading to the promotion of sport for all thus improving health and general wellbeing.
