Holbeck Elderly Aid is a registered charity (May 1992) and a company limited by guarantee (October 1998). We have been established since May 1992. We operate in the Holbeck area of Leeds. The Holbeck ward is the 7th most deprived ward in the country (source - Census 2001). We are a user led organisation with most of our management committee members being older people living in the Holbeck area. Holbeck is amongst the worst areas in the country for incidents of coronary heart disease.

Our charity makes a real difference in our community by engaging local volunteers, who are often unemployed people, to get actively involved in helping older people in their community to access services.This also helps unemployed people to gain training in their volunteer roles and develop their skills, giving them confidence through individual development plans to proceed to further education and learning and employment opportunities.In this way the whole Community benefits from HEA!
