Home-Start Dudley supports families with at least one child under 5 by providing a volunteer to visit them in their own home once a week. The volunteer works with the family to identify areas where they would like support and to work out a plan of action for this support. Families are referred by health visitors, children's centres and other agencies or they come to us themselves. Family groups and training are also offered to the families that we support and our volunteers.

Many parents struggle and are unsure of who to turn to for help. Home-Start is there to help parents who are in need of support. We give parents a helping hand to give their children the best start in life. Families benefit from our support as individual members and as a unit becoming stronger and more able to cope with life's ups and downs.

Results vary from family to family but they have included; families being brought back together, children being allowed to stay within the family, children's physical and mental health being improved, parents physical and mental health being improved, life skills being improved, parents gaining skills and confidence and reducing isolation of parents. Children also learn skills that help them to develop and make sure they are ready for school. Volunteers also develop skills and knowledge.
