Home-Start Seaham provide confidential, emotional and practical support to families with young children who are experencing difficulties.This support is tailored to the individual needs of each family and is provided as long as the family needs it. We recruit, train, vet and support volunteers who have parenting experence who are then placed with our supported families.

Home-Start Seaham is a vibrant, enthusiastic and welcoming scheme based within the local community. We have supported over 180 families helping to reduce soical isolation, reduce stress and develop parenting skills, confidence and abilities. In addition to our one to one family support, the scheme provide a number of community events throughout the year to promote local resources, provide information and develop social networks. We provide 2 individual weekly Parent/Carer Toddler groups.

With our support Parents are more confident in their abilities are less marginalised and children are happier and safer. Families make better use of local services, are less isolated and have wider horizons. 17 volunteers have gone on to further/higher education as a result of our support and encouragement. 12 volunteers have gone into employment.
