To provide information, education and training to minority ethnic women in Aylesbury Vale and assist them to succeed in their personal lives, work and community. IQRA aims to support, educate and train women to become more independent and integrate within the community and society they are living in.
Why the community needs usA lot of the women who attend the information and advocacy sessions have no access to transport, they are living on benefits and find it hard to travel, have large families with very young children and they are single parents. Now they have someone who can speak their language and translate their letters from schools, hospitals, councils and other organisations which they couldn't read, understand or reply to in time.
Our impact on the communityWe speak to the organisations on behalf of these women which they couldn't speak to before and this often resulted in their matters not being resolved for a long time. We arrange sessions where we invite guest speakers from organisations to raise awareness of the services available and how they can access these by themselves. We also refer them to expert organisations and encourage them to learn English. This assist them to build confidence, succeed in their personal lives, work and community.
