To relieve the needs of children suffering from emotional and behavioural difficulties by the use of Play therapy, Art therapy and Drama therapy, to help them deal with the things they have experienced which have left them unable to cope with normal life.
Why the community needs us
When a child is suffering from trauma, this can affect the child's immediate and extended family life, their school group and their community in general. To provide a child with the support needed in order for them to return to a place where they are able to cope is beneficial to all of these areas. Helping the child as early as possible is also potentially avoiding the child needing more serious support later, or having more serious issues which lead to mental health, legal and other costs.
Our impact on the community
The children we work with are able to fit into society and cope with everyday life, bringing benefits to themselves, their immediate and extended families, their school and/or other groups, and their community in general. They will hopefully avoid falling into the potential realms of self-harm, drug/substance abuse, anti-social behaviour, inability to take up employment and general decline associated with traumatised children who are not given appropriate support.
