
Kirkwood Hospice provides specialist care, free of charge, to adults in Kirklees with advanced, progressive illnesses at any time from diagnosis to the end of life, respecting their individual needs and wishes. Care and support is also provided for their family members, friends and carers, both during the illness and after death.
Why the community needs usWe provide treatment for people who have advanced, progressive life-threatening illnesses such as cancer, neurological diseases, advanced heart and lung disease and end stage kidney failure. Care is provided to those aged over 18 years who are residents of the Kirklees Council area regardless of gender, sexual orientation, religion or belief, disability, race or cultural background. In addition we provide medical advice remotely. We also provide support for their families, friends and children.
Our impact on the communityWe make a real difference to patients and their families at a very emotional and stressful time, ensuring that individual needs and wishes are met whether this be within our in-patient unit or the patient's own home. We offer a vital palliative care service for the Kirklees community.Our services are provided free of charge, ensuring all patients receive the care they need.
