Our aim is to make a child's stay or visit as pleasant as possible. Everything we do is over & above that provided by the NHS. Leeds Children's Hospital is the 2nd largest service for children in the UK. Over 200,000 children were treated here last year. Funds are spent on state of the art equipment & making it a child-friendly environment. Over 100,000 attend Children's Outpatients every year - that's a lot of toys & arts & crafts materials to make their visits fun!

Making a child's visit or stay in hospital as pleasant as possible has huge benefits not only for child but also for their families/carers. From their first visit to our Outpatients dept a child can play with arts & crafts materials which help to take the fear out of their visit. Donations also help to fund distraction walls in treatment rooms, which makes potentially traumatic, painful or perhaps embarrassing treatment much less so for a child.

Rather than a child being scared or bored they now play as soon as they come in for an appointment. There are toys & arts materials available for younger children & console games for older ones. Many parents/carers tell us this makes future or regular visits much less traumatic for their child. Thanks to our supporters we have 24 distraction walls in treatment rooms so far. Feedback is 100% positive. We want one for every ward & clinic area.
