Lifespan provides free support to people with serious and life-threatening illnesses, including cancer, multiple sclerosis and motor neurone disease, across Northumberland, Tyne amd Wear and County Durham. We offer counselling, complementary therapies, nutritional advice, art therapy, a befriending service and bereavement support. Most of our work takes place in patients own homes, allowing us to provide support in a familiar and comforting environment.

Many of the people we work with are seriously ill and may find it difficult to get out of bed or leave their home. By providing support in patients own homes we can ensure that everybody who needs help is able to access it. This also means that patients and their families, who might otherwise have become isolated, are supported through what is a very difficult time in their lives.

We aim to make sure that the time a family have left together is as special and meaningful as it can be. We aim to improve the health and wellbeing of our patients and their families and carers
