Guide: Making the most of your Localgiving fundraising page.

Building a fantastic charity page is only part of the process to raising more money. Yes, you have a great Localgiving page, with a clear explanation about what you are fundraising for, some brilliant photos, links to you social media pages and more. And the team here have worked hard to make them even better in recent weeks. But it’s no good just perfecting your page, you have to promote it to your community and beyond. You can’t be shy, if you are going to maximise your fundraising, you have to really push your page. We have over 10 years of experience in this area, so here are some tips to get started!

  • As soon as the page is published, message your entire network – friends, family, supporters, volunteers, recipients of support – tell them its live and ask for a small donation to help you get off to a flying start.
  • Include a very prominent link on your website and if you have one, every issue of your newsletter. Make sure that everyone who engages with your communications, also has a clear route to donating to you.
  • Publish the link regularly on your social media platforms and explain why donations are so crucial. Not on social media? Then sign up today, it’s quick, free and easy to join and essential source of traffic to your fundraising page.
  • Add some urgency! You want people to not just see the chance to donate but want them to do it right then. Not at some point in the future, when they might forget! So give a timeline for when the donation is needed by, and make it soon.
  • Create momentum – keep up a buzz by telling people how you are doing and what the donations are helping support. Share great stories from the campaign on social media and your pages. If there are people fundraising for you – include training progress, photos from activities etc.
