New fundraising pages are go!

"Throughout the Summer of 2024 we’ll be rolling out other improvements to our platform, as the team here work continuously to support your fundraising goals and our amazing community."

Hello !

We know how important your fundraising page on Localgiving is - it’s a window into your community and the principal place online from where you’ll get donations.

It’s a page that you can share with the world - where you can tell your story, make people want to donate and show them the amazing impact that donations will make.

The team here at Localgiving are excited to share that we have revamped these pages, delivering a fresh new look, making it even easier to receive donations and making your campaigns an even more effective platform for raising money.

And this is just the start - throughout the Summer of 2024 we’ll be rolling out other improvements to our platform, as the team here work continuously to support your fundraising goals and your amazing community.

So, what’s new?

  • Photos improve donor conversion rates, so we now have a large banner image along the top of the page, space for a logo or badge and the opportunity to add additional pictures to better tell your story.
  • This will be especially important on mobile, where the photo and the call to action (share and donate) will take centre stage to improve donation rates.
  • Simplified the distinction between ‘appeal’, ‘fundraiser’ and ‘project’ pages. You’ll now have all the functionality you need on all the pages making it easier to manage your fundraising.
  • Space to share your story, your goals and the impact made by donations to further engage those reading your page.
  • An improved activity tracker, showing donations, from who and a message to inspire others to support.
  • A progress bar linked to an optional deadline to give an easy visual aid of how the campaign is going and offer that extra nudge to donors who are still on the fence.
  • More options for sharing your page on social media.
  • Easily accessible clickable details for those that want to find out more about your cause.

How you can make the most of the new pages

  • Log into your Localgiving account - for a fundraising page click here, for projects click here
  • Navigate to editing your page, upload a new banner image for the top (1500px x 300px) and additional photos for lower down the page and why not freshen up your text while you are there.
  • If you have an existing appeals page you’ll now find it in the fundraising pages menu.
  • To update an existing project page, you’ll find it in the menu as normal.

Key tips for a fantastic page

  • Use a strong title – making it clear what you are doing at a glance.
  • Photos are key – use our resizing tool to make sure they fit perfectly on the page.
  • Make people want to donate – write a story that shows who is going to benefit, why they need this help, what obstacles you need to overcome and how long you have to raise the funds.
  • Show how donors can help – list specific items or expenses that need financial support. This makes it clear exactly what impact their donations will have.
  • Be boldly realistic – choose a fundraising target that makes sense
  • Urgency - finish by showing them not why they should donate, but why they should donate now.
  • Keep the community engaged – don’t forget to post regular fundraiser updates showing your news and progress.

What's coming next?

  • We’ve started with these pages because it’s the fastest way to prompt more donations for your causes quickly, but you’ll still be editing those pages using our old charity dashboard.
  • That will all change in the next few weeks as we launch the full new suite of fundraising tools; from easier fundraiser management to tools that will draft your grant applications for you.
  • We plan to release these in small increments so we can gather your feedback and make sure each bit lands successfully and we’ll be adding lots of handy tweaks and additions throughout the year.
  • We can’t wait to get these updates to you and are really excited to see what we can achieve together
