Towcester | Counselling, Advice & Mentoring
The objects of the charity are: A. To promote and preserve the health and well-being of parents to be, new parents, and the parents of babies and young children, who may be experiencing stress or facing problems within the normal range of parenting. B. To promote and advance, for the benefit of the public, an understanding of infant mental health and early child development, within the broad framework of object relations and attachment theories, and to provide a focus for this approach.
Why the community needs usWe are planning to reduce the amount of babies taken into care across the County by helping families form strong, loving and secure bonds with their babies through intensive therapeutic counselling sessions. Sadly many mums suffer from post-natal depression, chronic mental health problems, alcohol or substance abuse and need support and guidance to learn how to care for their babies, manage themselves and go on to build strong foundations for family life.
Our impact on the communityWe aim to help mothers feel stronger and more confident in their ability to manage and bond with their baby on their own and to go on to form a positive loving relationship. There is a part of the baby's brain that is almost entirely underdeveloped at birth. This is the social part of the brain which enables the growing baby to eventually sustain relationships, to be emotionally secure and to empathise with other people.
