The Forum is an independent, voluntary organisation, run by the members for the members. We enable the voices of the over 50's to be heard when organisations are shaping policies. NEF reflects the diversity and needs of older people. We have no statutory funding, and rely solely on donations and self funding. There are no paid volunteers but money is urgently needed for the office which older people view as THEIR office, knowing their problems will not be dismissed because of their age.

Our office is a place where older citizens can visit with a variety of questions, problems or just needing advocacy services. They view it as THEIR office, as it is manned entirely by unpaid older volunteers. We provide social, educational and physical activities specifically for the elderly. We have a bi-monthly newsletter the Elders' Echo full of information for older people and also details of all the activities they may access.

The Elders Forum has numerous letters and cards thanking them for various activities members have enjoyed or saying how much help they have been solving problems. Many thanking NEF for actually winning cases and saving them money over disputes with companies.Examples; one lady was saved from a £18,000 contract for a time share in Florida. One lady with only 20 minutes cancellation time was saved from a £3,000 window contract. Another member replaced an expensive chair with NEF's help. Many more
