Olney | Community Support & Development
The Olney Community Allotment is a not-for-profit group, seeking to provide growing opportunities for all ages in and around Olney. This project will enable local people to share in a gardening experience within natural surroundings, and serve as a platform for learning and participation at all levels, regardless of their expertise.
Why the community needs usWe're in an age where people are living longer, communities are becoming more distant and the young are spending less and less time outdoors. Our community allotment is the perfect remedy for all these problems, and feeds into the popularity of 'growing your own' as a valuable form of exercise, organic food production and an educational platform for the young and old alike.
Our impact on the communityThe Community Allotment plot will not only serve as a hub for the existing plots holders, encompassing re-cycling, mulching products, talks and demonstrations, but form part of a bigger plan to create our own nature walk around Olney, embracing the history and culture of our lovely town. The aim is to offer to all Olney residents access to the following amenities: Series of low and high raised beds, secure paths for wheel chair access, communal area, mulch and recycling, large poly tunnel, talks
