The relief of financial hardship either generally or individually of people living in the Peterborough area, through giving debt management support and money management courses. To develop the capacity and skills of members of the socially and economically disadvantaged community of Peterborough, in such a way that they are better able to identify, and help meet their needs and to participate more fully in society.

Peterborough has many areas of deprivation, with 22% of the population living in the most deprived wards in the country and in the National indices of deprivation rankings, we are ranked 56th out of 354 local authorities in the country, with child poverty at level of 25.3%. Through our project we look to help alleviate the stigma that comes from being in debt. Debt causes relationships to breakdown and a sense of isolation and loneliness.

Over the past year over 6000 people have been served through the Open Door Centre.We currently have 60 clients working with us to get debt free in a reasonable period of time.- 90% being debt free within 5 - 6 years- 10% being debt free within 3 years
