Open Road supports people who misuse drugs and alcohol and who struggle with other addictions. We also support their families, carers and local communities. Our service users are given individual and effective treatment. We provide a range of services to reduce harm, enable recovery, and empower individuals to rebuild their lives. The Open Road SOS Bus supports vulnerable people all-night, every weekend in Colchester High Street.
Why the community needs usOur community is all those who are affected or have been affected by the harmful impact of drug and alcohol abuse. In addition to providing holistic treatment for individuals with addictions, we are also working through the Moving Parents and Children Together programme to support children and families affected by addictions. We also work with other agencies to provide employment and training for our service users to assist in their long term recovery.
Our impact on the communityEach year we help over 3,000 people with a wide range of drug and alcohol problems. Over 75% of users successfully complete a structured treatment programme. We operate 11 treatment centres in Essex and Suffolk. We exchange over 35,000 needles annually from over 500 drug users. We champion new support initiatives with partners like the Green Light Trust Access to Nature, the M-PACT programme, the Probation service, Shared Care with GPs and the Volunteer Mentor Support Scheme.
