Pengarth day care centre is designed for over 57s who find difficulty in managing independently, or who experience isolation and loneliness. It provides an opportunity for seniors to socialise with others while continuing to receive needed care services. They also provide carers with a break from care-giving duties while knowing that their loved one is in good hands. They provide services that enrich their clients' lives.

Why the community needs us

Older people are particularly vulnerable to social isolation and loneliness owing to loss of friends and family, mobility or income which all lead to reduced social contact. By enabling older persons to remain as independent and socially integrated as possible it also provides respite for their relatives and carers. The support that is provided by this centre helps to enrich the lives of the people who attend.

Our impact on the community

The day centre promotes the development of domiciliary and day services in order to provide a social experience for older people by allowing them to remain living in their own homes while benefitting from a social, practical and independent perspective. Also minimising visits to hospital and doctors by providing a balanced nutritious meal and helping to prevent falls.
