We loan out vehicles from level eleven of the Queensgate Shopping Centre to those people with limited mobility, whether through, illness, disability, age or sickness. We are linked in with the services that are provided by the City Council using Community Link who pick up users from their home and deliver them to close vicinty to our services. This give some people who are housebound the freedom to visit our City Centre to shop, pay bills and visit places they would not normally be able to reach

In a recent survey it proved that without the use of Shopmobility and community link, some people would be prisoners in their own home. We provide the vehicles to make them free to get out and about meeting people, shopping and carrying out other tasks that being mobile we sometimes take for granted.

We loan out around 6,000 vehicles a year and renew our membership annually. We have a fleet of 21 mobility scooters, 4 powerchairs and 36 wheelchairs. We pride ourselves with the fact that we are a free service, which we are able to maintain thanks to the dedication of caring volunteers. We also pride ourselves with the fact that Peterborough Shopmobility was the first of many Shopmobilities and we are recognised as the flag ship of where the original idea was born.
