'Plot 44' has been created in the Rivelin Valley with the aim of enhancing the physical and mental well-being of the people of Sheffield, by inviting them to join in with creative activities that are offered to nurture wildlife, improve the natural environment and support a community celebration in the growing and sharing food.

Why the community needs us

The Rivelin Valley is a beautiful serene environment to walk and explore. 'Plot 44' will in 2016 be creating socialising and food growing spaces for people of Sheffield. There will be retreats spaces for artists to paint nature or for twitchers to bird watch, bug hunting or pond-dipping for children, 'Potter Plots' for child-minders and grandparents so toddlers can grow and pick fruit and flowers. There will be event space for celebrations, fun days, concerts and space for tea and cake always!

Our impact on the community

Our activities around food production will: raise awareness amongst young about what can be grown ; educate groups on how to create healthy meals; train people in basic allotment gardening; provide 'value for money' produce for local people and support food banks. Activities around therapeutic support for those in need to: Increase confidence and self-esteem; improve independence; reduce social isolation; enhance emotional and physical well-being. Overall build a stronger sense of community.
