Based in and around Colchester, we were established in October 2000, to promote the best in music and the arts for the enjoyment of all members of the community and to offer all children the chance to make music together under the guidance of professional musicians. In addition to an annual festival week each October, music day workshops are run for children, particularly those who have had little or no previous musical experience. Registered as a charity in 2008.
Why the community needs usIn a surprisingly large number of local schools access to music is limited and in some cases non-existent. We aim to bring music to these schools in particular & have our foundation run successful music days giving children an opportunity to work alongside professional musicians. This project is, so far as we are aware, the only one of its kind in the area. We also present a high quality music festival involving internationally renowned musicians in the heart of our rural community.
Our impact on the communityThe festival has become a prestigious local cultural event attracting internationally known musicians. Through our music days we provide a vital service in which children can create and play their own music while working with top-class professional musicians. We believe this unique creative experience should be accessible to all children. The schools programme will expand in 2012 culminating in a children's festival performance. Beneficiaries for festival and music days: 2000.
