Southern Addictions Advisory Service (SAdAS)is an established charity providing services to people experiencing problems related to drugs, alcohol and mental health. Services include one-to-one counselling, outreach and support groups. The charity works with people who are trying to move on from their addiction, helping them to re-integrate into mainstream society and improve social and mental wellbeing.
Why the community needs usBy setting up and running support groups and networks in different community locations that focus on raising awareness of drug/alcohol issues, providing education and peer support should enable those people to tackle and address on-going issues locally and over time provide wider on-going support to other members in their community.
Our impact on the communityAn increase in personal reponsibility, reduction/stability or abstinence of drug and or alcohol use resulting in postive change,improving mental/emotional and physical health, decrease in criminality, improvement in relationships, social networks/contacts, improvement in accomodation/living circumstances, improvement in daily lifestyle e.g. work, education, training, leisure time.
