Promotion of the playing of cricket by all ages in the communities of the Selby district. The club is funded by donations, grants, a limited amount of sponsorship and fees paid by members. The costs associated with running the club include a rental agreement with Selby Rugby Club, who own the land but also significant expenditure on ground maintenance. Specifically, the club is in urgent need of replacing the outfield cutter at this time. The club does not pay any of its players.

As well as having four senior teams, the club has a thriving junior section and is looking seriously at the possibility of a ladies team. Further promotion of cricket in the area is the key objective of the club.
