We enable our members, older men with varying disabilities to participate in fishing, an exciting outdoor activity, by organising fishing trips to local ponds in the North of England. Trips:help reduce the isolation of those members that live alone, they build confidence and they enable members to engage in an activity members are passionate about.

Why the community needs us

We currently have 25 members and run 19 trips between May and September each year. Our group has been running for 27 years.

Our impact on the community

Dave's Story - Dave was born and bred in Sheffield. He has experienced poor health since childhood being a severe asthmatic. He is now diabetic, has had one leg amputated and is registered as partially sighted. Dave has been a member of the group for 20 years and says he eagerly anticipates and immensely enjoys each fishing trip. His delight is recalling the day in 2007 when he had a haul of carp weighing over 50lbs.
