Sheffield | Community Support & Development
There's help and friendship in the relaxed Lounge drop-in. Clothing, food, washing and other amenities are available. People can make real progress in their lives through: ESOL; Money skills; Basic IT; Literacy etc.. The Parlour Café has "great value food and is a haven in busy-ness." There are many free groups including: Parents & Tots; Knitting; Art; Book Club. Theme nights and events such as: Curry night, Chinese Cultural Evening, Gala Days, Debating nights & films gather the local community.
Why the community needs usAll kinds of people, including the lonely & marginalised find acceptance & friendship. Other needs are also met. Basic skills training in numeracy, literacy & IT increase confidence and empower service users to give back to the community. Those new to the UK learn English, helping them integrate. All services are free! Volunteering has helped some rehabilitate & return to work. The community is brought together through Church, many public events, the Cafe or through hiring our modern facilities.
