To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Shotton Colliery and the neighbourhood, without distinction of sex or of political, religious or other opinions by associating the local authorities, voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation and leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.
Why the community needs usOur aim is to provide a facility for Education and training, provide recreation and leisure facilities, promote public safety, and assist in the reduction of crime and anti-social behaviour. We aim to achieve this by providing facilities that meet the needs of the whole community, particularly children, and the unemployed, the elderly and other disadvantaged groups.
Our impact on the communityShotton & District Community Association was established in 1974. The Community Centre host a variety of Community Groups :- Karate, Youth Club Juniors 7 to 12 years, Youth Club Seniors 12+ to 19 years, Keepfit Circuit, Keepfit Zumba, Mothers & Toddlers, Disabled Club, Flower Arranging, Dance Class, Card Making Group, Lunch Club. Shotton & District Community Association is made up of local residents,Parish Councillors, Teaching Assistant,with a core management committee of seven members.
