The Somerset Motor Project builds up self-esteem & self-worth in trainees who have sometimes found other forms of training & education difficult to accept. We mainly work with 12-16 yr olds, but also work with adults with learning difficulties to improve their quality of life. We also run a separate evening Motor Intervention course to tackle car crime & road safety.

The Somerset Motor Project has also helped other charites by donating Land Rovers refuribished at the Project, those who have benefitted are the RSPB & the World Wildlife Fund. We also can give help and advice to people on low incomes so that they can keep their vehicles on the road safely. We work with local Schools and other organisations to provide training for challenging trainees.

The Somerset Motor Project has had a positive impact on the trainees that have attended, one trainee went on to a Mercedes apprentiship and is now fully qualified, another trainee joined the army and has just finished two tours of Afghanistan. Both trainees are the first to admit that the normal School curricullum didn't work for them.
