Our aim is to actively support Redbridge Vision Trust in the maintenance and improvement to amenities in South Park, Ilford, for the benefit of the local community, schools and visitors to our Park. Also for the protection of wildlife and park conservation. We have refurbished a disused building to a Wildlife, Education and Information Centre run voluntarily for our community and local schools
Why the community needs usWe provide a daily presence in our park, collecting litter and giving advice re matters such as conservation and wildfowl/bird feeding to users. As a result of our presence, our regular Newsletters and surveys in our community there is a much stronger awareness of the Park and it has become a safer more desirable place to visit, with much improved amenities and events. We feedback/canvass issues in the Park to the local council Parks activity, local SNT and Met police with excellent results.
Our impact on the communityWe have raised £13,000 to convert a disused building to a Community Wildlife Centre. We hold regular events for the local schools and community. We have been involved with launch of a new adventure play area. The Park has received London Mayors safe awards in 2011 and 2012 and now has Green Flag status. We now run a community park supporter programme. In the Park there is a very popular old basket ball court. We would like to refurbish this for Multi Purpose sports as an OLYMPIC LEGACY.
