We are part of a national charity run by volunteers for children and young people of all ages. We aim to help young people develop their self confidence and activity in society with the aim of building a world based on equality, friendship, peace and co-operation. Groups have been running for nearly 100 years with weekly activity sessions, camping and hostelling trips . We are non -religious welcoming people of any faith or none.
Why the community needs us
We are particularly interested in working with children from our local estates and try to be as inclusive as we can. Our volunteers often come from low income families. We are charged rents to meet in community facilities and all volunteers are requested to make a contribution to our outdoor camping activities.
Our impact on the community
We have a good track record of success in this area with 4 groups meeting each week, with about 100 members and about 20 volunteers on a regular basis. We have worked with carers children, many single parent families, refugee children, with about 50 children attending camping activities with us each year. We also offer outdoor activities to many young people. The children we work with become caring, responsible, engaged teenagers and young adults.
