St Peter & St James provides free palliative care, love and support to people with life limiting conditions, such as cancers, organ failures or progressive neurological conditions. We have our 8-bed in-patient unit, our day hospice and our team of 7 Clinical Nurse Specialists in the community delivering our care, as well as offering physiotherapy, complementary therapy, welfare, counselling and chaplaincy. Support for carers and families is also free.

Why the community needs us

We provide public benefit by the free provision of Specialist Palliative Care through an 8 bed in-patient unit, specialist support and advice given to patients in their homes, a day care unit and a team giving psychosocial and spiritual care to patients and their loved ones. Access to these services is open to all people in our catchment area of Mid Sussex (incorporating parts of East and West Sussex) who are assessed as having Specialist Palliative Care needs.

Our impact on the community

Both our hospice in patient unit and our community team and support services enable our patients to cope with life limiting conditions according to their individual choices. Whether supported at home or in our hospice, or with a combination of both, we provide the care and support both our patient and their loved ones need to cope with a challenging time in all their lives. We know that those who come into contact with our services truly appreciate the difference we can make to their lives.
