Our Association is committed to encouraging allotment gardening by whatever means possible. Our current priorities are providing opportunities for families, and helping older allotment gardeners to keep gardening by providing volunteer support, including Community Payback projects involving young offenders supporting the elderly or disabled gardeners.

We have the largest allotment site in Devon, which is potentially a huge community resource. We need a community polytunnel and power brought to the site so that we can create on-going Workshops for Exeter residents, families and school children. Our popular 'Dig It! Open Days could then be extended throughout the season, tapping into the rich store of gardening knowledge among allotment holders, many of whom are now in their 80s but will continue to garden in the new community polytunnel.

Over a 2 year period 500 people have attended our Workshops and Open Days. People without gardens have taken up growing 'crops from pots' at home. School Garden Clubs have been supported with advice, seeds and equipment Volunteer allotment gardeners have been able to share their skills and knowledge. A previously 'enclosed' site has extended its reach into the local community and grown links with local businesses We provide Probation Service placements for young people doing 'Community Service'
