We are an award-winning charity that works inside over 170 primary and secondary schools across the UK providing mental health services which are school-based and easily accessible to children, parents and carers. We work in seven schools in the Harlow area, providing emotional support to over 2,200 children aged 4-13 years. By intervening early, we catch children's problems before they start to negatively affect their behaviour and academic progress.
Why the community needs usChildren are less likely to suffer from serious mental health difficulties if they receive support at an early stage. The project provides improved mental health and wellbeing for children and young people.Children are better able and prepared to learn.Parents are more engaged with their child's school and better prepared to support their child's needs.Schools see improved staff welfare and morale within a more emotionally literate and caring school culture.
Our impact on the communityResults: A cost-saving to society (for every £1 invested in Place2Be, there is a £6 cost-saving to society).Children using the Place2Be service have enhanced self-esteem, better communication skills and the ability to develop more fruitful relationships. Place2Be schools also show significant improvements, such as less disruption in class, better grades, higher attendance rates and fewer exclusions.
