THYROIDMK was formed in 2002 and is a charity run by volunteers, some of whom have a thyroid condition themselves. We organise Information Events, which are held at the Open University 3 times a year. They also provide phone, e-mail and postal support and attend charity market stalls, volunteer fairs and the CMK Community Desk. The group provides informed information and raises awareness of thyroid disorders
Why the community needs usOur Information Events provide a crucial contact point for new members, especially those who have recently been diagnosed with a thyroid condition. We also find that our information stalls are fundamental in reaching people who are unaware that there is a support group in the area. Members new and old feel empowered with up-to-date information based on latest research. Meeting other people with similar conditions provides mutual support and reduces isolation.
Our impact on the communityWe are very fortunate to receive match funding from Local Giving from time to time as we really do rely on donations to keep us afloat. We desperately need a REPLACEMENT GAZEBO that will keep us dry and protect us from the SUN this summer when attending outdoor activities. Any donation will be welcomed.
