We want the college to be used by all the local stakeholders and because of that we need to improve key areas of the college and community centre. Such as, seating for the outdoor theatre, outdoor canopy for the entrance to the Children & Youth Centre, upgrade the washroom facilities at the college, start up a small allotment area to grow vegetables for the community project...etc
Why the community needs usUplands is in the heart of Wadhurst village, not only does it provide education to students aged 11 years to 18 years, we also have a Childcare facility for youngsters aged between 1year & 5 years, plus breakfast & after school club and a holiday club for children between the ages of 5 to 11 years. Youth provision is also held at the centre one evening a week and there are adult classes 3 evenings a week & during the day.
Our impact on the communityAs a community college, we believe we have a central role to play in our local area, from forging excellent working relationships with our closest primary schools to supporting local charities and organisations and thereby instilling in young people, an understanding of their role and responsibilities in a wider community
