Maidstone | Community Support & Development
Voluntary Action Maidstone (VAM) mission is: *To promote volunteers and volunteering and to develop services in response to local needs. *To support, strengthen and develop the capacity of voluntary and community organisations in Maidstone. Why the community needs usWe work effectively with voluntary, community & statutory organisations & represent the voluntary sector within Maidstone. Several projects have been developed through a need identified by the community providing services for older people, people with mental health problems, those with a disability on low incomes, carers providing care in the community, people recovering from substance misuse and those rehabilitating in the community after a prison sentence or youth offending service.

The CVS has gained NAVCA Accreditation, it held 101 individual advice sessions, 214 CRB checks and provided a range of training events and forums during 2011. VAM currently manages the following projects; Platform, Gateway, Maidstone & Malling Carers, Transport, Kent Event Team, V Team & Brighter Futures. The last two projects have received the Queens Award for Volunteering which is the equivalent of an MBE.
