Chippenham | Community Support & Development
Our volunteers, driving their own cars, provide client transport for those who are unable to access public transport; live where there is a lack of public transport; are not eligible for the ambulance/medi-car services or find these inappropriate for their personal needs; and can get in and out of a private car with a minimum of assistance.
Why the community needs usVillage Link serves the ten Parishes of Acton Turville, Badminton, Biddestone & Slaughterford, Castle Combe, Grittleton, Kington St Michael, Luckington, Nettleton, North Wraxall and Yatton Keynell in NW Wiltshire. We occasionally assist other neighbouring Link schemes as necessary. Our volunteers take our clients safely to GP/Dentist Surgery appointments, Luncheon Clubs, outpatient appointments, collect library books, collect prescriptions, and take clients and their pets to the Vet.
Our impact on the communityWe currently support some 150 clients using about 50 volunteer drivers who provide their own cars. Last year our service delivered over 1,100 trips, travelling over 24,000 miles and contributing some 2,300 hours of volunteer effort.
