Orton Waterville Village Hall was constructed in 1949, to serve a village community at that time of 400. Today, due to the expansion of the Ortons, it caters for a population of about 8500 which includes an area which is in the 20% most deprived areas in England. With 23 regular user groups of all ages our Village Hall is a lifeline for many elderly or lonely people. Regular events are also held, includng the Village Show, Plant and Table Top sales, Film Shows and Council Surgeries.

Why the community needs us

Orton Waterville Village Hall has been at the centre of community life for over 60yrs. The Hall provides well identified needs within the community, such as helping to overcome isolation especially amongst older people living on their own, providing opportunities for people of all ages to take part in educational activity,as well as healthy living pursuits, and craft activities. Our community often meets together at the Hall helping to provide social cohesion with such events as the Village Show

Our impact on the community

The work the Hall does is vital to our community but the fabric of the Hall has to be rescued or the good we bring will have to come to an end. The demand for our facilities is always growing. We know from talking to our members that what they are able to do at the Hall brings friendship and helps them to be part of a community. Without the Hall all this could end. Moreover we know from the local PCVS that if we can improve our Hall we will also be able to answer the needs of Support Groups.
