Worthing | Housing / Homelessness
Worthing Churches Homeless Projects (WCHP) provides care, support and accommodation to homeless and insecurely housed adults, empowering them in their journey out of homelessness. The day centre meets client's fundamental needs such as food, clothes and healthcare, from here they are able to access the residential projects. They have a short stay hostel, a longer-term hostel, semi independent accommodation and a specialist recovery project supporting people with substance misuse difficulties.
Why the community needs usOur services are set up in response to the needs of the local community, 90% of people using our services have a local connection to the Worthing area. Without our services people experiencing homelessness would not have access to hot meals, showers, clean clothing, bedding, advice and support or the opportunity to get their lives back on track. We work with the whole community towards ending homelessness by seeking to address the root causes and empowering people to take responsibility.
Our impact on the communityEvery year we provide support to over 600 individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness. We have a 70% support plan success rate. Our services reduce the number of people reliant on statutory services such as the hospital. We can accommodate 58 people in our projects on any given night and are the only day centre providing basic fundamental services to those who are street homeless in Worthing.
