Waltham Forest Asian Seniors' club is a "user-led", "user-run" organisation where the wishes of the membership are paramount. The membership is multi-faith, multi-racial & multilingual representing the whole of Asia. The trustees are elected by the users and are all users of the services themselves. Our club aims to promote the welfare of older Asian people and support them in all aspects of their lives with social, cultural, recreational, emotional and health promotional activities & services

Why the community needs us

We provide bilingual information & health services to "harder to reach" sections of the Asian community in a friendly and familiar environment and in their own languages. Most of our members cannot access or are not catered for by the mainstream services.

Our impact on the community

In 1993 we started the Club with 10 Asian members with a little funding from London borough of Waltham Forest. Today we have no funding from the Council but with grants from other sources we provide services to 192 older Asian people We run 5 bilingual exercise sessions per week including a Cardiac Rehab session and "roll-on" 10 week courses on "Healthy Eating & Weight Reduction - the Asian Way". We run computer, English and Urdu classes for beginners plus provide cultural & social activities.
