Crook | Counselling, Advice & Mentoring
Our aim is to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Willington and the surrounding area in County Durham, by associating together the said inhabitants and the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in the common effort to achieve education and to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation and the leisure time occupation with the object of improving the condition of life.
Why the community needs usWillington Community Action helps the community to overcome barriers to education, employment and assists them in accessing services. We reduce social isolation through organising community events and promoting recreational and social activities for all age groups. We work in partnership with other organisations and groups to offer training and education which includes Adult Literacy, Numeracy, Workability Programmes and Computer Training. The centre offers office services and clerical support.
Our impact on the communityWe have an impact on the local community through our Action Centre which is situated in the High Street of Willington. We provide free internet for homework, access online job applications and searches, families are able to keep in touch by using social networking sites and Skype. The community assists our environmental group helping to improve the area. We provide annually a Summer Fete, a Christmas tree and lights for the Town green and last year we brought the Pantomime to Willington.
