Worsthorne Improvement Park Project is a group working with the parish council and parks department of Burnley council to improve the local park. A committee has been formed to raise over £30,000 to modernise the tired play area in the village which has not been revamped since at least 2002 and is real need of a face lift. Slowly but surely a plan has been put into place and with your help by donating today the work could potentially start in winter 2015.
Why the community needs usIn 1978 Irene Spence was key to raising the funds to start a park in Worsthorne that didn't exist at that stage. She sadly died suddenly but the park was completed in her memory and we would like to honour her ambition by continuing to improve the park. The children and families of Worsthorne and the surrounding areas, deserve to have a safe and exciting area to play. Somewhere they can meet to have fun with friends old and new, making years of memories playing on the park.
Our impact on the communityWe are now sorting out some fundraising events and approaching local businesses. We have secured funds from the parish council and ward opportunities to the sum of £10,500. We were then totally thrilled to receive a generous donation from the Spence family of £5000 bringing our total to £15,500, half way there!! Help us to achieve this potential start of work in winter 2015 by donating today . Thank you!!
