Established in 1989, The Wirral Society of The Blind and Partially Sighted provides services and support for people with a visual disability in Wirral. We promote self help and independence by empowering people and removing the barriers they face. We encourage involvement through consultation with service users regarding the provision and delivery of services. We offer a wide range of services including drop in advice, social and creativie activities and a fully equipped Resource Centre.

Why the community needs us

We provide esssential support to over 3,000 people in Wirral by providing accessible services and facilites to encourage independent living. We support people of all ages, friends and families of those experienceing the difficulties faced through sight loss. Our Resource Centre averages 100 people per week dependant upon the support they receive from our team of staff and volunteers. We rely upon grants and donations to continue these much needed services.

Our impact on the community

More visually impaired people have access to facilites to enable them to live independant and fullfilled lives. People are encouraged to continue to face challenges and achieve goals depsite losing their sight. We have a positive approach to this disability and work to minimise social barriers often faced by this group.
