At ZigZag Leeds our vision is to provide a range of support measures that take account the needs of the whole family, rather than just the autistic child. Autism affects the whole family and has a massive impact on family life. We at ZigZag Leeds want to provide a service that meets the needs of EVERY single family member. As a group we will continue to grow and expand, and to further develop our services in an inclusive environment. Our group motto "YOU ARE NEVER ALONE"
Why the community needs us
We run our groups in North Leeds, but our group is open to any family in the Leeds metropolitan district. Since our group has been up and running we have reached out and supported many children and their families. Our voluntary group has made a massive impact on these families, they have come to realise they are not alone, and always know they can speak to us about any issues they are having. The confidence of these parents/carers has improved due to the knowledge we share and assistance we give
Our impact on the community
We set up family fun sessions two years ago and they are a fantastic success, the whole family knows they can attend without being judged about their child's behaviour and be comfortable in the knowledge that we are all there with the same issues and fights in life. Strong friendships have grown between members and volunteers and excellent support circles established.The children have been able to build on their difficulties in a safe environment.The support group and networks we offer is NEEDED
