BrightPIP works with vulnerable babies, aged 0-3 and their families.  We work to reach every baby we can - to provide free access to parent infant therapeutic support. Our mission is for every baby to feel safe, secure and loved. BrightPIP was founded on the principle that young families are the biggest investment we can ever make for future society. Babies and their parents need to be recognised, raised up, valued and cherished.

BrightPIP families can be struggling for a whole range of reasons. Parents of young children are by definition required to meet the extreme demands of a 24/7 role whilst often sleep deprived.  What makes this even  harder is when a family are suffering challenges such as financial hardship, isolation, homelessness, domestic abuse or are disadvantaged due to physical or learning disabilities.  BrightPIP parents may have had difficulties themselves as children such as having had abusive experiences or having been in Care.  They are often struggling with birth trauma, post traumatic stress or ongoing mental health conditions.

Families tell us that we have made a massive difference in their lives and colleagues in the NHS urge us to keep on providing this work for families.
Families feedback:
‘Just that it was amazing, and I feel like (clinician) really saved my life. I’m just so grateful that she helped me’
‘So much has changed. I feel like I am better able to make sense of things, and my own feelings. Just being given that emotional support, and preparation made such a difference.’
'Really helpful and beneficial to talk through and explore my experiences of my pregnancy, birth and postnatal experiences which were during the COVID-19 lockdowns and how this affected me emotionally, particularly with a long term health condition'
Referrers (Health Visitors, Midwives and GP's): 'It is an excellent much needed service. The therapists are very supportive and the women I refer feel that they can open up much more'
'Helpful, experienced, empathic and friendly'
‘Thank you for this great service. I do hope the option for these sessions continues as part of your service model as I know there is a need, and it is great to have somewhere to refer.’

We rely on donations and charitable funding. The Children's Centres in Brighton and Hove kindly house our office and clinic space and so every single penny we raise goes directly to our parent and baby therapeutic services and reaching out to those families who are most in need of support.
